Swiffer Love
Swiffers. The pads are prohibitive - unhealthy fragrance,* far from biodegradable, wasteful, and expensive.
But I love the Swiffer tool. Omitting the pads, the tool works elegantly for dusting floors and walls. Dust without pads?! Not to worry! There’s another way. And it uses up piles of rags and rag-destined stained clothes and linens.
I cut or tear a rag (or several) into a rough rectangle. A rectangle that’s a bit longer than the length of the Swiffer pad -- and wider than the width of the pad. Wide enough to reach around and shove into those nifty grippers. Spray or sprinkle lightly with water. And it’s ready!
My rag Swiffer makes dusting hardwood floors -- especially stairs -- much easier than hand dusting and more effective than vacuuming. Plus, I use up the pile of rag-worthy clothes and linens.
No, I don’t usually wash dust-laden rags. If I run low on rags, I might -- after I brush off the dust bunnies.
What’s your experience? What cleaning tricks lighten your way?
